Non-Invasive Zerona Laser Get’s FDA’s Clearance For Fat Reduction

Written by: Dr. Dean Anderson
Sept 27, 2010

The Zerona is the first non-invasive device to receive FDA market clearance in the U.S. for circumferential reduction of the waist, hips, and thighs. The FDA granted market clearance following the completion of a placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind, multi-site clinical investigation evaluating sixty-seven study participants. The results obtain demonstrated an average inch loss reductions of 3.65 inches across patients waist, hips, and thighs in as little as two weeks. The clinical trial did not included any adjunctive components such as diet restrictions or exercise requirements.

The Zerona emits a low-level, or cold, output energy that generates no thermal effect on the body’s tissue eliminating any risk to the patient. Zerona has been clinically proven to target fat cells causing their immediate collapse thereby significantly reducing body volume. Though a natural process of fat removal, the laser-released fat is safely removed and broken down, providing patients with a truly non-invasive procedure without side effects or down time.

Dr. Anderson has been using the Zerona for almost 2 years. He was one of the first individuals to bring this technology to the Denver market.  The results can be outstanding but he does caution that not every individual is a good candidate for this type of treatment. Ruling out certain metabolic conditions and assessing lifestyle habits are things that must be addresses with each individual. He also states that this is not a treatment for someone who is clinically obese.

The recent FDA clearance for effectiveness has created a huge media buzz.  It was just recently seen on the Today Show with Matt Lauer.  It has also been seen on The Doctors Show, and Rachael Ray.  Its been featured in magazines such as Life & Style, FittnessRX,  and Allure to name a few.
